Laboratory staff

The laboratory staff is working on

  • the express assessment of toxic and biologically active properties of pharmaceutical substances and medicines at the level of a unicellular organism (P. caudatum);
  • the assessment of the toxicometric parameters of pharmacological substances by studying acute, subacute, subchronic, chronic toxicity, tolerability (harmlessness), local irritant action;
  • the study of mutagenicity and anticlastogenic properties of pharmacological agents;
  • the study of specific types of toxicity (allergenic properties, embryotoxicity and teratogenicity, hepatotoxicity);
  • the study of the pharmacological activity of drugs for veterinary use in model experiments (analgesic, anti-inflammatory, stress-, acto-, hepatoprotective action).

All toxicological and pharmacological studies are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals used for Experimental or other Scientific Purposes (Strasbourg, 1986, confirmed in 2006).

Research area

  • Screening, pharmaceutical development and study of the mechanisms of action of drugs on animals, organs and tissues, cell cultures.
  • Toxicological assessment of medicines and their forms in the conditions of acute and chronic experiments, specific types of toxicity and manifestations of undesirable side effects.
  • Study of the clinical efficacy of drugs, biologically active drugs and their combinations in case of various pathologies.
