The All-Union Research Institute of Non-Contagious Animal Diseases was organized by the order of the USSR Ministry of Agriculture dtd. September 29, 1970 No. 294.

In 1991, on the basis of the order of the State Commission of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on Food and Procurement No. 9 dtd. 14.01.1991, it was renamed the All-Union Veterinary Research Institute of Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapy, and in 1992, by the order of the Russian Academy Agricultural Sciences No. 48 dtd. 20.05.92 –  SSI All-Russian Veterinary Research Institute of Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapy of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SSI ARVRIPP&T of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences).

On November 20, 2018, on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation No. 1016, the Institute was renamed Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “All-Russian Veterinary Research Institute of Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapy” (FSBSI “ARVRIPP&T”).

The Institute is the lead research organization for the development of theoretical foundations and practical methods for combating non-contagious diseases of farm animals, it coordinates scientific research in these areas conducted in other research institutions and universities.

Main activities of the Institute.

  • Study of molecular and biological, biochemical, physiological and systemic bases of the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases of farm and other animals caused by non-infectious agents and opportunistic microorganisms.
  • Revealing patterns of interrelation between the state of the village ecosystem and the morbidity of productive animals.
  • Study of the role and state of the body’s resistance and general metabolic mechanisms in case of a nosologically differentiated pathology, the course of diseases and their outcome.
  • Development of methods for predicting the occurrence, assessing the nature of the course and outcome of diseases.
  • Development of scientific and technical foundations for the creation of integrated systems for ensuring the veterinary welfare of animal husbandry.
  • Scientific substantiation and methodical support of veterinary pharmacological policy in the Russian Federation.
  • Design of highly effective pharmacological drugs and biologically active substances for the prevention, treatment of diseases, preservation and improvement of animal productivity.
  • Development of forecasts, comprehensive programs and systems of measures to ensure sustainable veterinary well-being of the country, create healthy herds of high-yielding animals and obtain high-quality livestock products, maintain the ecological well-being of the village.
  • Development and improvement of the methodological level of fundamental and applied research on the pathology of metabolism, reproduction and mammary gland, diseases of young animals, adaptation and stress, pharmacology, toxicology, biotechnology, ecology and environmental protection.

The institute currently employs 132 employees, out of whom

  • 1 Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
  • 1 Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
  • 16 Doctors of Sciences (out of whom 10 are Professors),
  • 36 Candidates of Sciences.
  • Among the staff there are 3 Honored Workers of Science of the Russian Federation.
